The Tesco Ballina upgrade — designed by JDA Architects and supplied by Elemental — delivers a modern dual-expression façade using two distinct material systems. The primary elevation features ULMA reconstituted stone rainscreen panels, installed with a tight 3mm joint line for a refined, monolithic appearance. Lightweight yet impact-resistant, ULMA performs exceptionally in coastal, high-exposure environments, with one-piece corner units enabling clean edge transitions.
On the opposite side, Swisspearl burnt-orange fibre-cement panels form a warm backdrop to vertical grey aluminium fins, introducing depth, shadow play and a dynamic visual rhythm throughout the day.
Together, the contrasting façades establish a crisp, durable and contemporary identity for Tesco Ballina — balancing performance, precision and strong architectural character.
Materials Used:
• ULMA Reconstituted Stone — off-white, secret-fix rainscreen (3 mm joints)
• Swisspearl Fibre-Cement — burnt orange, behind vertical aluminium fins
